Workflow YAML
Workflow YAML is a platform's readable text form of an automation. The file holds the steps, settings and links, so a person can diff it, store it in version control and sometimes edit it by hand. It is portable between workspaces of one vendor and, so far, between no vendors.
What Workflow YAML means
YAML is a plain-text format built from indented keys and values. A platform that exports workflows as YAML gives the buyer a file to read before deciding how much of it to rebuild.
Readable does not mean importable elsewhere. No target documents reading another vendor's workflow YAML in the pages read for the portability matrix.
Workflow YAML in Torq's own words
Torq exports a workflow as a YAML file holding structure, description, tags and section, and the export package includes the custom steps and integrations the workflow uses. Torq documentation, read 2026-11-03
